Solo features a Knights of Ren Easter Egg. Earlier this week, Star Wars fans were treated to a new look at The Rise of Skywalker with some behind-the-scenes images and videos, which has given us our best look at the upcoming movie yet, aside from the first trailer. With that being said, the biggest buzz out of these new photos is the confirmation that the Knights of Ren are returning for the first time since 2015’s The Force Awakens.
J.J. Abrams can be seen directing the Knights of Ren out in the desert and we can see them all holding their own unique weapons. In addition to The Rise of Skywalker news this week, it was also the one-year anniversary of Solo: A Star Wars Story hitting theaters and some diehard fans have been campaigning on social media for a sequel. With both bits of Star Wars news going on at the same time, it left room for a new Easter Egg discovery.
When looking at one specific weapon from the Knights of Ren it may look familiar. That’s because the same weapon can be seen in Dryden Vos’ collection of rare space relics in the background of Solo. At the time, fans were looking more at the Mandalorian armor and hoping Boba Fett was going to show up in the spin-off movie, which is understandable. A Knights of Ren connection wasn’t exactly something most people would have thought to be looking for, but thanks to the Solo 2 campaign and new images from The Rise of Skywalker, we have a new Easter Egg.
This weapon discovery leads to new questions about the Knights of Ren. Is this the same weapon that Dryden Vos has in his collection, or is it just a style of weapon? With the reintroduction to the Knights in The Rise of Skywalker, we may get some further background information about them and where they obtained their weapons. If Vos has one on prominent display, there has to be something a little special about it. With that being said, J.J. Abrams has a lot of ground to cover in the final movie of the Skywalker saga and getting into weapons may be a bit much.
The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters at the end of this year and Star Wars fans are starting to get excited. Before the movie hits theaters, we have The Mandaloriandebuting with the launch of Disney+ in November, which is also giving fans something to look forward to. There’s a good chance we could see a callback to Solo in the series too. As for a possible Solo 2, it seems highly unlikely that Disney will make it at this time, no matter how bad the fans want to see it.
